1960년대 이후 '한강의 기적'으로 불리는 경제성장을 통해 한강 유역은 근대화를 상징하는 장소이면서 한편으로는 한강과의 단절이라는 공간적인 분절이 야기되었다. 분절된 공간은 단순히 물리적인 단절뿐만 아니라 과거 한강 변에서 즐겼던 일상의 체험과 추억을 지웠으며 나아가 생태환경의 중심이었던 한강의 모습을 잃게 하였다. 이러한 관점에서 본 프로젝트는 한강의 물줄기가 만들어낸 과거 한강 변 지형의 복원과 연결에서부터 시작된다.
'한강물이 소용돌이처럼 휘감아 서리는 물가'라는 의미를 지닌 반포[서릿개]는 자연형 호안과 모래톱 지형의 발달로 물을 활용한 사계절 프로그램과 함께 다양한 철새와 식생이 공존하는 장소였다. 장소성의 복원은 자연 기반 해법(Nature Based Solution)에 따른 형태적인 복원과 함께 단절된 도시와 자연을 연결하며, 서릿개에서 누렸던 일상성과 생태성의 회복을 포함한다.​
Fluid Ground는 한강의 물줄기가 만들어낸 유기적인 지형의 다층 연결 공원이다. 자연형 호안[모래톱]을 복원한 지형 레이어, 그 사이를 채운 수공간 레이어, 한강 변에 서식하는 식생을 재현한 생태 레이어 그리고 108동과 다양한 언덕 공간에서 즐기는 역사 문화 레이어는 서로 오버랩되어 장소성을 회복한다.
이러한 회복은 도시, 자연, 그리고 사람들이 어우러지는 상호 교감의 장소로, 과거의 복원을 넘어 새로운 미래 공원의 가능성을 탐색하는 장소가 될 것이다.

Since the 1960s, rapid economic growth—known as the "Miracle on the Han River"—has transformed the Han River basin into a symbol of modernization, but also caused a physical and emotional disconnection from the river. This disjointed development erased everyday experiences once shared along its banks and diminished the river's ecological role.
This project begins by reconnecting with the Han River’s original terrain, shaped by its natural flow. Banpo [Seoritgae]—meaning “the riverside where water swirls”—was once home to natural terraces, seasonal water programs, diverse bird species, and rich vegetation. The goal is to restore this sense of place using Nature Based Solutions, re-linking fragmented urban and ecological zones to revive daily life and biodiversity.
Fluid Ground is a multi-layered, organic park shaped by the river’s movement. It restores sand dune terraces, adds artificial water bodies, reintroduces native vegetation, and overlays cultural and historical layers from 108 surrounding neighborhoods. The park seeks to become a space where city, nature, and people interact—reconnecting the past while envisioning a new kind of future park.
