호국 홍제사의 군법당은 불자들 뿐만 아니라 시민 누구나 찾아와 불음(佛音)을 향유할 수 있는 열린 공간으로 사회적 가치의 실현을 추구하는 공간으로 기획이 되었다.
​인타라망 '因陀羅網' 곧 "이 세상의 모든 존재가 서로 관계를 하면서도 서로 장애가 되는 일이 없다"의 불언을 컨셉으로 공간을 구현하였다.
고정적인 불교 미술 양식에서 벗어나 창조성을 강조한 조형물 활용하고 현대화 된 형태와 소재로 불교의 숭고함을 극대화하며 새로운 공간으로 설계하였다.
군법당의 천장을 수놓은 수옥등은 불사의 정보를 레이저 각인으로 제작하여 크기는 작지만 모여서 법당을 밝혀주는 소원의 불사 조명으로 활용이 된다. 또한 법당의 벽면은 동판에 칠보로 만든 불사로 만들어졌다. 칠보란 금속의 소재에 유리질을 녹여 고열로 구워 다양한 색이 나타나는데 아미타경에서 말하는 7가지 보석 금, 은, 청옥, 수정, 진주, 마노, 호박을 가르킨다. 금강경에서는 선남자 선여인이 삼천대천 세계를 칠보로 가득 채워 부처에게 공양하는 것은 많은 공덕을 쌓는 것이 된다고 하는 의미를 담는다. ​불상의 후면 벽체가 열리면서는 계룡산이 파노라마처럼 펼쳐지며 법당 외부의 자연을 차경하여 실내공간과 시각적 조화를 이룬다.

The Military Temple at Hongje-sa was designed as an open, inclusive space where anyone—not just Buddhists—can experience the teachings of Buddha, emphasizing social value.
Inspired by the concept of Indra’s Net, which symbolizes the interconnectedness of all beings, the temple blends tradition with innovation through creative sculptures and modern materials, reimagining sacred Buddhist space.
The ceiling features laser-engraved Suok lanterns that, though small, collectively illuminate the space as lights of wishes. The copper-plated walls are decorated with cloisonné, a vibrant enamel technique representing the seven treasures from the Amitabha Sutra, linking material beauty with spiritual meaning.
A hidden highlight: the wall behind the Buddha opens to reveal a panoramic view of Gyeryongsan Mountain, uniting the temple’s interior with the natural world.
